I sat down and wrote a few questions that I feel every christian should be able to confidently answer. If you cannot answer them, then I need someone to help me understand the benefit of believing in something you cannot defend.
1.God and the Bible have the same amount of evidence as Allah and the Koran(their bible), how did you decide that god and the bible was true and allah and the koran was false? Over 1 billion people believe that allah/koran is correct and god/bible are false.
2.Why has god not performed ANY miracles since the documented ones in the bible? By miracle I mean, something that occurs that has NO other explanation besides god.
3. Why does god allow bad things to happen to good people? Why does the preacher who helps thousands get killed but the child molester get a raise at work and a shiny new car? I think God’s plan is a cop out answer, we use it for things that dont have answers, it makes us feel good. Dont you think we should push for a real answer?
4. There are 850 million starving people in the world. 36 million people die every year from starvation. Is this part of God’s plan/will? If so, do we have any idea why his plan is to let 36 million people(6 million kids) suffer to the point of dying from starvation each year. If you do not have an explanation for this, why are you ok having such a huge unanswered question?
5. If you have had a loved one die at a young age, your friends and family said it was part of gods plan and they are in a better place now. Has anyone been able to identify what gods plan is for someone dying at the age of 17? If he needs them in heaven, why cant he use the 36 million people that died of starvation?
6. If god has his will and plan for our lives then why do we pray for things? For example John gets in a car wreck, we all pray that he lives, however when he dies everyone says it was gods will and he is in a better place. If that was gods plan then why did we even pray? God is going to do what his plan is right?
7. Why do we always give praise to god when good things happen but never question where he was when bad things happen?
8. We also praise god when he answers prayers, however he never answers prayers that do not have another option besides him. For example, we pray that cancer goes away while someone is in chemo, it goes away and we praise god. However there is a very good chance that the chemo and 100′s of thousands of dollars we spent on cancer doctors could have cured the cancer. Why dont we pray for things that have no other possibility, like an amputee’s leg to grow back. Why doesnt every christian on the world pray for the rest of my index finger to grow back? You realize the body cant regenerate a finger and there would only be one way for this to happen. Of course we dont pray for that because we know it wouldnt happen. However when it didnt happen, of course we would say that was gods will, and if he wanted the finger back then he would blink and it would be back, right?
9. I stopped believing in god 4 years ago, why has NOTHING in my life changed since then? Great things still happen to me. I still have feelings of goose bumps when touching events happen to me, I just dont associate them with a higher power anymore.
10. Who decided what parts of the bible we are not supposed to live by any more and which ones we are supposed to live by. For example:
“Deuteronomy 22:20-21 (New International Version)
20 If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the girl’s virginity can be found, 21 she shall
be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to
death”
Someone decided that wasnt true any more, was it god, was it jesus, was it man, was it george
washington?
We find parts of the bible that are convenient for our society and lives and go with them, what
about the tough ones, when did god decide he didnt want those followed?
11. How do you rationalize the fact that you are ok intentionally choosing to sin and go against
what god has asked you to time and time again? You are planning to do it again as we speak.
12. What do you not do in your life because you know it hurts god?
13. What about your life changes due to being a christian? How would it change if you were not a
christian?
14. If you had never been taught anything about the christian religion and someone approached you today with the story of the bible and god, would you believe it or require more proof?
15. What if I approached you today with the Koran and Allah story, would you believe it or continue believing what you believe today? If you wouldnt change, then why? The stories are both just as believable and have equal proof.
16. Why did god allow allah’s people to fly the planes into the buildings on 9/11? Wouldnt this have been a good time to step in?
17. If you gave money to a feed the hungry foundation in your city but you sat and watched thousands of kids starve, wouldnt you demand answers? Wouldnt you stop giving if the money wasnt effective? If you demand such rational explanations in your real life, why are you ok with such unknowns with religion?
18. Why does god not answer amputee’s prayers? Amputee’s have been praying for their limbs to grow back for thousands of years and god has never answered even 1 of their prayers. Why does he heal peoples prayers with cancer but not an amputee’s prayers?
19. If someone is born in a remote location without the chance to know about god, when they die do they go to hell?
20. If you were raised in Iraq and were taught by your family, friends and culture that Allah was the true god. You would spend your entire life thinking you made the right decision and will be going to heaven, when they die will they go to hell simply because of the country they were born in and the religion they were raised to believe?
21. Do you feel that if you were born in Iraq that you would be a muslim and feel Allah just like
your family and friends are? Or do you feel that you would be the only person in your family that
feels God when you have these “feelings of a higher power”?
22. Was Lucy before or after Adam and Eve? Or do christian not believe that her and the age of her bones are accurate? http://www.talkorigins.org../faqs/homs/lucy.html
